AQ140 water leaks

After praising the Swedes for their attention to detail in the plumbing of the AQ140 water lines, I'm beginning to have second thoughts.
Two seasons after having totally rebuilt the engine and cooling system with new seals/gaskets, water leaks are showing up at several connections, mostly copper tube seals. New seals were used, sockets were clean, and tubes were inserted as square and flush as possible.
What is the secret to getting these to seal?
What is the difference between VP and aftermarket(Sierra, GLM) seals and gasket kits?
I'm beginning to think that Mercruiser's "low tech" hoses and clamps are the smarter, more reliable plumbing method.

At times, I too have questioned the OHC 4 banger seawater system and the copper tube connections.
However, when they are done correctly with OEM components, we do not have any problems.

I would suggest using the OEM parts.
Make sure that the hold-down clamps are straight and that the correct length bolts are used.
If need be, tweak the clamps so that when the bolts begin to snug them against the copper tube flange, more pressure is exerted against the sealing gasket.

If I had owned my AQ110 one more season, I would have gotten out my drills and taps and converted the whole system to barbed pipe fittings and hoses w/clamps.
