"ok,rebuilt 131, now has 35 hours or so,then been sitting for 1 year, new fuel tank,lines,filter,plugs,new coil, cleaned carb,runs good for 30 min's or so, then will not start. shuts down under low speed,temp is 180, oil psi is 60lb to 75 lbs. runs good on hose but not in the water.

2) When the engine does not start after having run for awhile, try putting the speed control lever in 3/4 ahead without the engine being in gear, then start and bring the control quickly back to minimum when the engine starts firing."

"In the water you say, the reason for this is because of back presure from the water? I sometimes am able to start it with 3/4 ahead, but not most of the time. Just ordered a carb kit, hoing this will help.Is there any other carb i can use besides the Solex?

"Yes, the reason is back pressure. Another problem you may have is a weak coil that acts-up intermittently. Consider replacing your current coil as cheap insurance.

Regarding carbs, you can try a Weber, but the carb and intake manifold cost about $700.
