enigne is overheating have found that stern drive rw water suction lines are leaking. looking for a exploded diagram of this to see what its going to take to repair before i tear it apart. thanks

go to volvopentastore.com and click on engines before 1985 then click on aq series, then find your engine. IT will be catogorized by what your looking for. I think they have a seperate induction/cooling page not for sure tho.

Good luck and folks on here would be happy to help should you need any assistance :)

Oh and welcome aboard

already looked there. my boat and motor are 1988.

If you search the forum for "overheating" you will find that this topic has been discussed numerous times. Your likely problem is the raw water hose connector in the intermediate housing of the outdrive. If the connector is corroded/perforated, the raw water pump will suck air instead of whater whent he boat is on the plane.

removed suction hose and where it hooks to outdrive looks bad and probly isnt sealing

Either one should work, but the 18-2777 has a slightly narrower neck if I recall correctly.

The drawing for the AQ131D/275 shows the 18-2778 as the correct fitting.

the part # on the drawing converts to this one
http://www.marineengine.com/newparts/part_search.php?part_num=18-2777&x=21&y=10

i have already bought and installed the 18-2778, contacted the dealer i bought it from and i cant return it now that its been installed. Do you think the 18-2778 will be ok?

If you look at the drawing in the link I posted above, you will see that the connector has three holes on each side, which is Sierra part 18-2778. In any case, it should fit your 275 with no problems. Just remember to apply a bit of Perfect Seal or similar (Aviation gasket, loctite sealing compound, etc) to the area of the water neck where the hose attches; this will facilitate the hose assembly and the coating will further protect the hose connector from stagnant water.
