"hi! my starter doesnt work everytime,sometimes it just clicks when i turn the ignition overand i have to tap on it to get it to turn over.then it starts pretty good for awhile and then it does it again is it toast or can i rebiuld it cheaper than buying a reconditioned one tks rocky"

"You will have to take it apart to find out. More often than not, a good internal cleaning and lubrication, skimming the commutator on a lathe and a new set of brushes can do wonders.

Have you checked how good (or bad) is the ground between the engine block and the (-) post of the battery?"
