AQ131a engine.

i have 2 questions my timing belt tensioner bearing locked up wonder if i could use one from a volvo 2.3 car from advance auto for like 35 dollars compare to dealer for 100 bucks.

The other question i like the aq131 had the boat for 9-10 years its a excel by wellcraft 18ft open bow.

But was wondering would anyone know how i could get more HP out of it trying to do some mods and get it running in the 50 mph if i could.

i think top speed last summer were about 37-38 i guess it would be hard to get 12 miles an hour more out of it but i thought some might know a way i could.

1) Yes, you can use the automotive tensioner. It is identical to the "marine" tensioner (well, except for the price).

2) No. You will need another engine if you want more HP (possibly a V6).
 
That's a good little engine and don't let anyone talk you into boosting the HP, it will never happen. You could go with the 151 but the cost to make it one isn't worth the 1-3 MPH you MIGHT get.
