"I just pulled the head on one
"I just pulled the head on one of two engines on my Coronet 24 and found two gaskets. At first I thought it was a single gasket that came unlaminated, but they are 2 separate gaskets, each measuring .033/.034" thick. The engines were definitely rebuilt at some point, so I don't know whether to assume this was an error or if it was done intentionally. I haven't yet measured the depth from the head surface to the floor of combustion chamber to see if the head was shaved on the combustion side, so maybe that's why a second gasket was used. Is that good practice or is it a cheap way to get out of buying a new head? Other than that issue, is there a good reason for putting in 2 gaskets?
Thanks for any help."
