"I was having a few issues with one of my AQ125B's so I replaced my plug wires distributor cap and rotor. I changed out the points with the Hot Spark electronic ignition conversion. I cranked her over and she started fine. I checked the timing and it was at 15 degrees advance at idle. The manual says 6 degrees so i adjust it to that mark. Does not idle so well here. I throttle up to 35oo rpm and check the timing again and it is at about 25 degrees instead of the reccommended 30-32. Which is more important? The high rpm or the idle?

Also when I throttle up I have to pump the throttle to get up to speed or it stalls out, what could be the problem here, it runs fine at cruising, but it is a bit of trouble getting there."

"I have the same trouble. Changed to Pertronix electronic ignition conversion and have to pump throttle or give gas very slow or it will stall. The aq125a ran fine before the Pertronix change it was just a pain in the cold weather. Other then that, it starts up as soon as I touch the keyand after I get passed the little stutter it runs great."

"Mine was doing this before the conversion too, I'm thinking I may need a carb rebuild after doing some reading."

"Actiually, the recommended ignition advance is 32º-36º BTDC at 4200 RPM. This is more important than the idle setting.

Regardless of what the manual says, you may want to adjust the idle at about 10º BTDC instead of at 6º BTDC if you are using mid-grade gasoline."
