AQ125B Fuel problem

Or at least i think is a fuel

Or at least i think is a fuel problem. When i first take off it runs great but when i run it wide open for about 2 minutes it loses about 3 to 400 rpms but if i let off the throttle for about 30 to 45 seconds and open it up again it does the same thing over and over i changed the anti syphon filter and i was almost positive that was it but it wasnt. It also has a brand new fuel pump on it. What else could it be. I do not see a inline filter or a internal carb filter?

"Have you checked the fuel tan

"Have you checked the fuel tank vent? If clogged, it can give symptoms like the ones you described."

El I took the carb off and too

El I took the carb off and took everything apart and cleaned all of it with carb cleaner and still same problem. Im about ready to just take it somewhere and let them worry about it. DO you have any more ideas about what could be the problem?

"You may want to try one more

"You may want to try one more thing. Start the engine, warm it up, and before you go for a ride hotwire the (+) of the coil with 12V+ from the battery. If the problem clears, then you have an ignition problem preventing the full 12V from reaching the coil. You may also want to try installing another coil (if you have a spare one, that will do). I am assuming that your ignition wires are in good condition. And if you haven't installed a Pertronix electronic ignition kit by now....well, I think you know the answer.

Also, are the lower RPMs for real (that is, can you hear that the engine sounds different) or is your tachometer just acting up?"

I know the it is the engine an

I know the it is the engine and not the gauge. I will try and explain exactly what happens. Its like when i take off and run it wide open it runs fine for a minute or two and then it seems like the engine slows down a little. When i hit a bunch of small waves the engine fluctuates with the waves like the float is bouncing up and down cause the bowl is not staying full of gas. I especially cleaned that part of the carb and it didnt help.

Hey el i dont recall installin

Hey el i dont recall installing that spacer between the pump and the engine. COuld that maybe be the problem. Maybe its not pushing the right amount of pressure?

"I think you may have answered

"I think you may have answered your own question. If the lever does not retrieve as much as it should, then the pump will not have sufficient stroke to suck or deliver the right volume of fuel."

As bad as i hate to say this t

As bad as i hate to say this the spacer is there. I have not tried teh coil wire yet but i will this weekend and i will let you know how it goes.

You answered the prob

Justin
You answered the problem yourself
your float is out of adjustment take the float bowl off while attached to the engine and if it is not running over the float is set to low I had the exact same symptoms and adjusted the float this way and it now runs non stop like a scalded dog

"Justin, how did the engine ru

"Justin, how did the engine run before the new fuel pump? Has it run properly at any time since you've owned it? If so, what has been changed (components etc) since?

It does sound a bit like a low float problem but why would that suddenly show up unless the fuel pressure from the new pump is lower than the old pump? Or that the needle/seat valve is sticking, however, when they stick they normally stay stuck a little longer and are sporadic."
