"Hey guys. I have an AQ125A that runs fine until the motor is shut off. When hot, it will not even fire. I have to wait about an hour for it to 100% cool down, then it will start again. Any suggestions? I'm pretty sure it is not a fuel issue. I've just recently replaced the coil, plugs, wires, rotor and points (& gapped). Thanks"

"Maybe the idle mixture is too

"Maybe the idle mixture is too rich. Next time it happens, try putting the throttle lever at about 75%, then crank for a few seconds until the engine starts (it probably will). Just be prepared to return the throttle lever quickly to idle so that the engine does not race.

Also, consider replacing the points and condenser with an electronic ignition kit. Search the Volvo Penta Gas forum for <font color=""ff0000"">Pertronix 2842</font> and <font color=""0000ff"">Hot Spark</font>."

"Thanks El,
I tried the throt

"Thanks El,
I tried the throttle wide open and it doesn't help. It won't even fire. Plenty of gas is getting to the carb. Would the idle mixture alone do this? That's the only thing I have not checked. Thanks."

"Are you getting spark? Also,

"Are you getting spark? Also, you can try hotwiring the + of the coil from the + of the battery to discard problems like the safety neutral switch. Just remember that, if it starts, you will have to remove the jumper to stop the engine."

"El,
Yes, plenty of spark &am

"El,
Yes, plenty of spark & fuel. Engine runs great until I try idling the engine below 1,000 RPM's in gear. In nuetral it idles fine & when cruising, just not real slow when in gear. Then if it stalls, NADA..... It will start again in about 45 minutes when the engine cools off.
Also replaced the coil (+ plugs, wires, etc.) with a new 12V internal resistor type. Thanks for the help!"
