hi im trying to figure out how

hi im trying to figure out how to aline the timing belt with the crankshaft marks there on top do i aline them on the bottom of the crankshaft the book says aline the marks but the belt dosent ride on the top anyone seen this before ? thanks pat
 
the timing belt has two marks

the timing belt has two marks which the book says to aline with the crankshaft marks they aline on top and the belt doesnt run on top it runs on the bottom of the crank so the belt doesnt touch the top and you cant aline like that so how do you do it does one dot go on bottom?
 
i have it lined up i just cant

i have it lined up i just cant line up the two lines on the timing belt with the crankshaft marks because there on top and the belt doesnt go there
 
"Look at part 16A in the link:

"Look at part 16A in the link: there is supposed to be a notch on it. Align the notch with the mark on the housing. Then there should be a dot at the front side of the crankshaft timing gear, and the line on the timing belt should line up with that mark."

Most likely that's the cas

Most likely that's the case (it has been a long time since I did one of those). The mark in the belt will let you know.
