What is the easiest motor that

What is the easiest motor that would bolt right up to my bellhousing and the biggest i can go to replace my AQ125A engine ??? I have a 1982 with a 270 drive Volvo.

"With your current bellhousing

"With your current bellhousing you are limited to "real Volvo" engines, so I belive that the biggest, "not-too-old" engine model you can possibly install is an AQ171. It is essentially a B-23 block with 4-valves per cylinder instead of 2, and it is rated at 167 HP, which is significantly higher that your current 115 HP. However, you will have to check first that the exhaust manifold will fit directly into your exhaust pipe without facing too many challenges."

I found a AQ170b engine in tun

I found a AQ170b engine in tune with 3 carbs. Is this good engine and what is horse power on this engine ????? I can get it at cheap price. You say to get a real Volvo engine i would have to change Bellhousing ????

It is better You send me the m

It is better You send me the money and keep Your engine! Will probably spare You for a lot of trouble future and costs!
That engine went out of production 15 years ago together with most of the parts!

"William, what I said is that

"William, what I said is that the bolt pattern in your bellhousing will fit either pushrod or overhead cam Volvo engines, but not the Ford or Chevy engines utilized in some Volvo packages.

You may want to go to the Volvo website

http://www.volvo.com/volvopenta/global/en-gb/marineengines/older_engines_1/2002/ gasengine/sterndrive/

and download the brochures for the AQ145A, AQ151C, and AQ171C. This will give you an idea of some suitable engines with higher power rating than yours."

Do not forget the gear ratio a

Do not forget the gear ratio and the drive either! With a AQ171 the steering bolt in the steering helm at the top of the drive will not last long if the oiginal 270 bolt.

"Ok You guys , What engine wou

"Ok You guys , What engine would you guys go with ??? I want more horse power ?? I have a AQ125 ,1982,SSV-177 ,Glastron open bow, 270 Drive. I want to get a bigger motor and stay with the drive i have. What engine should i go with ????"

"You should be able to install

"You should be able to install an AQ 171 as well, which is rated 167 HP. But as I said a few posts above, you may (or you may not) face some challenges plumbing the exhaust. If you install an AQ171, make sure that the steering yoke spline is 1-1/2" diameter instead of about 1"."

"Ok,i will check the steering

"Ok,i will check the steering yoke. Thanks on info. I keep every thing well greased even that cap on top of the bell housing everyone forgets about. I took off that cap drill it and installed a grease fitting in the middle of it. I was tiered of unscrewing the cap and filling it with grease and screwing it down than doing it again. so all i have to do is pump grease in it now."

"I measure the Stearing Yoke t

"I measure the Stearing Yoke the best i could. i took a measurement where the grease fitting is inside the boat it looks like i do have the 1 1/2 dia stearing yoke from what i can see. Now ,finding a AQ171 Motor that probably will be fun to find. I will use that for a back up motor. My Aq125a engine runs very well and starts with 1 turn of the key with no extra cranking at all."
