My 19' Bayliner just start

My 19' Bayliner just started overheating on a plane this year. I have had the boat 3 years but have never cleaned the heat exchanger and dont know what chemicals i could use to clean it once removed. I have heard muriatic acid might be an option? I replace the impeller every year as well as the antifreeze. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

"Insert a short section of transparent hose in between the raw water pump and the transom. Look for air bubbles. Also if you have a strainer, make sure that the gasket on the cover is intact."
