I read some place that an isolator would not work on the aq125 because of the way that the alternator works. Can someone tell me if this is true? also is there away to hook up a vacuum gauge.

"An isolator will give you a voltage drop. This may be the reason!
I will say that you'd be better off with a BlueSea ACR unit.

As for a vacuum gauge, there is no real use for one on a Marine Engine that will never offer any manifold pressure while under load.... no "coast time" as we have with a car/truck engine.
However, it will serve you for setting the low speed idle circuit when doing your tune-up.
Look in your OEM manual for a connection point.
