AQ120 No Spark

Was gifted a 1979 Bayliner Mutiny with an AQ120 engine. It turns over with good compression but no spark. Previous owner installed a Flamethrower coil. From what I can gather, the coil is sending a spark to the distributor but the distributor is not sending spark to the plugs. The previous owner's dad (OG owner) did some odd things with the wiring, weird splices that change colors so it's tough to track everything. My main question is if anyone can send me pictures of the wires going in and out of the coil, I'm convinced it's a wiring issue but don't want to put the time and money into rewiring unless I know I can get it running.

Appreciate the help.

This is what a basic ignition circuit looks like for a distributor with points. There needs to be a voltage reducer in the line to the + side of the coil. Otherwise the coil will burn out.
You can bypass the key by running a wire from the + side of the battery to voltage reducer to the + side of the coil. This is how older cars were hot wired. You still need the key to operate the starter. To shut off the engine you disconnect the wire to the coil.
Check the point gap. Take out a spark plug reattach the wire. Put the metal on the plug in contact with the engine or other ground. Crank the engine. Look at the spark plug out of the sun, best in a dark place. If you have weak spark, the condenser is bad. No spark could be bad cap or bad rotor.

You need to inspect the wiring splices. You won't find a cause if you don't. Use the standard wiring colors for any repairs that you make, so you can follow schematics that apply.

IF .... and I repeat IF the coil is sending a spark to the coil, then:
1) The wire from the coil to the distributor is either defective or not seated correctly at one end or the other
2) The distributor cap is defective
3) The rotor in the distributor cap is either: incorrect, improperly installed or defective.
4) The wires from the distributor are either: incorrect, improperly installed/routed.

You ask for the "wiring in and out of the coil".... IF as you said the coil has a spark out, there is no "wiring" to consider except
for firing order ( or as cited above)... which is marked on the engine casting somewhere.
