Two*questions for Riccardo...

My 280 outdrive is giving me trouble. Over the winter, I replaced my 5L volvo engine with a 5.7L SBC. Re-built the engine from the crank on up and have 360 hp now.

I am in the breaking in stage now and have 3+/- hours on it. Yesterday I was running a 16 x 17 pitch prop and after 45 mins switched up to a 16 x 19 pitch. I was running @ 3800 rpm and 5 mins after putting the 19 pitch the unit stopped...I coasted to a stop and had difficulty shifting to neutral to restart.

I lifted the drive and the prop wasn't freewheeling. I jiggled it and then it would turn one way without binding. When I reversed the rotation it would bind up and freewheel after I jiggled it.

Here*are my questions:

Should I be looking for another outdrive?
Should I source parts to rebuild?

I am planning to upgrade to a DP drive but the was on the radar for this coming winter.
