"Whats up guys,
I have an AQ

"Whats up guys,
I have an AQ 131 1989 Volvo penta. It runs hot when the rpm's go up. It says in my manual to clean and flush the cooling system water jackets by removing the drain cock on the side of the block. with this being sperate from the sea water what would be the best way to flush this system out? does anybody know the proper proceedure for this? and do i have to drain my anti freeze in my heat exchanger. not sure where to start. I just blew a head gasket when my circulation pump belt broke so it overheated and had coffee in the creamer. i had the head checked and shaved and rebuilt my heat exchanger. it ran hot before when rpm's went up and is doing it still. took everything apart for cooling system and cleaned it out put new seals and motor seems to still be running hot"

"Check the raw water hose conn

"Check the raw water hose connector in the outdrive. If it gets corroded, the raw water pump will suck air and the engine will overheat. This is a very common cause of overheating problems in Volvo outdrives."

"thanks el i will start there

"thanks el i will start there ,i hope it's that easy before i start tearing stuff apart. by the way do you know the normal operating temperature for these motors. I was told they run hot around 200 to 210 degrees F due to the way the fuel is dispenced into the head. does this sound right to you?"
