"Need to replace raw water pump on AQ 130C Volvo B20. Options wanted.
The raw water pump is old style (Johnson) with replaceable shaft / seals no bushings.
It fits on the front of motor and is driven by the camshaft.
I have heard there is also a style with replaceable bushings.
I have also heard of one with bearings.
My question is, should I look for the new style with bearings or go electric?
Has anyone replaced theirs with electric and what did you use?
It seems that electric pump technology has improved compared to my 70's pump.
Thanks, Gil"

Also, Depcopump has replacement pumps:

here is the Depcopump cross-reference list

Personally, I would stick to mechanical pump. As far as I know, all new VP and Mercruiser marine engines still have a mechanical raw water pump attached, so there must be a few good reasons for that. One of those reasons could be that if the electric pump fails, you may find it out by the time your engine is toasted."

El P Thanks for your input and

El P Thanks for your input and the links. You have a good point about electric breakdown. Will look at finding a new model with bearings. Gil
