"I had my Bayliner Explorer with a AQ120 B engine out on River today. AS I was going along I noticed it ran a tiny bit warm about 190 I slowed down it cooled down to 175. Then as I was going it stalled and I tried to start it it cranked slow. I then lifted hatch and I saw water coming from carberator. I was told probably a blown head gasket. My brother said could be caused by a bad manifold. I see no water in oil. I have since pulles plugs out to blow water out of engine. But I not sure what pipe to take off motor to stop the water from coming into the carberator.
Is it possible it is a bad manifold?
Or a head gasket cause I see no water in oil.

"A leaking manifold is possibl

"A leaking manifold is possible, but a 'jumped' timing belt more likely and perhaps a combination of both."

if it jumped timing how would

if it jumped timing how would it cause the water to go up through the carb.
Also I will probably do a compression test but can I kinda rule out the head gasket cause I see no water in oil.

This motor has given me a lot of trouble. I would like to replace this motor with a newer bigger engine. What other engines will bolt up to the bellhousing.

If the belt 'jumps' ex

If the belt 'jumps' exhaust may get inntake and vice versa! Well known syndrome on the Volvo OHC engines. The only engines that firts on the bellhousing are unfortunately the Volvo 125/140/145/151/171 which are more or less the same except for displacement (cyl volume) but with double carbs and 171 is 16 valve!

if the timming has jumped what

if the timming has jumped what caused this. I only have put less than 5 hours on this motor since buying used off E-bay. It has been running bad cause carb needed rebuild. If it jumped timing what needs to be done now?

"The aswer on You question onl

"The aswer on You question only You and/or Your mech may give, but a simple guess would be corrosion on crank shaft gear!
What to do?
Change it, replace the crankc shaft gear and pray no more dammage has been done.
However get the water out of the cylinders first and preserve it before corrosion kicks in!
If You do not allready have one, I suggest You order a repair maual for the engine before You start."
