I am going to convert my 50HP Johnson two cylinder, year 1989. It currently has the VRO pump now. I need the correct part number for the NON VRO style pump. A Johnson number is best . Thanks David. J50TLCEC engine number.

You need the pump that screws directly over the pulse port on the side of the top cylinder.----One fuel hose in and one fuel hose out.-----Find the number for that pump on any of the 48 HP models of your 2 cylinder motor.

Thanks! According to the parts listing a 0438556 will fit the non VRO engines for 25 to 55HP from 1975 up into the 90s .

That is the one you want.----Need to remove pulse port on side of block.----Plug hole where the VRO got the pulse.------Need 2 screws and gasket.---Re-arrange some hoses.

Does't the non vro pump need the engine pulse to operate? Does the non vro pump pick up the pulse somewhere else? I am a newbe on boat motors....but have done a lot on older cars. These are indeed somewhat different beasts.

My mistake in post #4-----Need to remove pulse port plug that is now on the side of #1 cylinder.---Find it between the 2 holes with 10-24NC thread.
