Anyone install the 383 stroker

"just looking for some imput on the 383 stroker from mercruiser. im looking to re power my 4winns 225 for the 2nd time.boat is a 98 that weighs appx.3500 lbs. first repower was a marine power 350 carbuated,boat lost app. 5-6 mph at first, then after a few years and a few water ingestions, more like 10-12 mph. So im hoping to get the speed back. anyone have exp. in this?"

My slip neighbor--Fast Al--did that to his. Made a rocket out of it--until it dropped a valve. Put another in there and all was well again.

I put a 383 MPI in my 20' Mirage this summer to replace a 4.3.
I have not had her wide open yet for any length of time, since it only has about 25 hours on it, but I have seen 60+ MPH.
Very happy so far.

Its the Merc 6.2 MAG

Its the Merc 6.2 MAG MPI package complete. Rated at 350 crank HP or 320 shaft HP.
It is configured as a Bravo unit, but I am running it with my Alpha leg with a new upper 1.47 gear case and side exhausts. Runs great.
Trying to drive it sensibly since I don't want to trash the Alpha too soon.
I removed the belt driven water pump and used a different serpentine belt.
