You should know how to bleed air out of your fuel lines. Keep water out of your fuel as much as possible by topping off fuel tank to reduce condensation and monitoring water seperator. It is a myth that motor oil in a diesel engine gets dark quickly but is actually clean. You need to change it as much if not more than a gasoline engine. Motor oil that is not rated for diesel engines is not adaquet for diesel engines.
