Last weekend I decided to buy

Last weekend I decided to buy my first boat motor. I know nothing about it besides its an Evenrude. The Model # is E25ELCCM / Serial #R734881. I would appreciate it if anyone can give me some insight as to yaer/ hp and fuel/oil ratio & any opinion as to the reliability of the motor if they know it. The sticker on the cover says 30HP but someone told me it is a 25HP.

Guy.... The "CC" with

Guy.... The "CC" within the model number indicates you have a 1988 model engine. The "E" and the "25"states it is a 25hp Evinrude. The "EL" (memory fails me here) I believe indicates that it is an (E) electic start (L) long shaft model. The "M" at the end of the model number.... I don't recall.

" joe.. have a 115 Evenrude that lost a water pump last season. I put in a new pump but now I cant keep the motor running. It starts for a few seconds and quits. Could I have damaged a safty circuit or somthing? It got pretty hot before I saw the hot light and shut it down, but it cranked over right away. Any thoughts? A freind says I can just by-pass a safty circuit by deleting the wires from the box on rear of motor, but that dosent sound safe to me. Thanks, jerry "
