Antifreeze / Coolant Quantity

Changing the Antifreeze / Coolant in my 1983 Crusader 270's FWC (chev 350's).
Does anyone know the quantity in each engine? I can't find it in the specs.
Also while we're talking coolant.... any advice on type or brand would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Mark,
I just changed the coolant in my 1977 270s a couple weeks ago. Each engine takes about 2 gallons of mixed coolant. I used Zerex "Original Formula". It comes in a white jug and the product is fluorescent yellow-green (apparently the newer pink stuff is bad for older engines). The book said to use distilled water so I used that to make a 50/50 mix.

The spec is "approx 23 quarts"...it will vary based on the installed angle of the engine and the heat exchanger used.

Definately use the "older technology" green coolant...we use the full strength stuff from WW and dilute with distilled water to keep a 40% concentration of antifreeze. You can't drain the whole system so adding a premix yields added dilution.
