"My granddad gave me a chrysler 9.9 before he passed on. 1st, I am unsure of the year. Model # is 92HD, and then serial# is 12673. I have looked numerous places with no luck. 2nd, it set for eons. I have never worked on boat motors before, so I decided to jump in head first. I pulled the carb off, and took it apart. I cleaned the old gas out as best I could. I could not get to the needle, but believe I cleaned it adequately. Put it back together, and also put new plugs in it. Here is where I am lost. I gave a few good pulls on the chord, with a plug out, and didn't notice any spark at the plug.. I realize there are probably a list of reasons as long as my leg, but was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks for any info on the subject. Ken"

"1st thing to check is that there isn't a kill switch activated or out of adjustment. This is connected to the points under the flywheel. Next thing to check is the points under the flywheel to ensure they are clean of any oil and oxide. It doesn't take much of a contact film to disable the points. Ensure the flywheel key isn't sheared, this will prevent spark as well. Next inspect magneto coils for cracking or leakage."
