"I have a 115 merc. ,84 model.When i got it the stator was bad.I put on i new one and alls well,but my amp gauge& fish finder both said it puting out16+ amps wot.It drops down to 14+ at times but goes back up. Is this normal?"
 
is your battery fully charged

is your battery fully charged or is it going bad? Is the battery an automotive type?
 
Are you sure we're talking

Are you sure we're talking amps and not volts? Typically the dash has a volt gauge. It may be a regulator.

"I meant volts. The battery is a large marine type 3 years old that hasn,t given me any problems.I can switch it to one of my trolling motor batterys thear new.I had a bad conection on one of my main cables fixed it today maybe thats it.I just thought that 16.10-16.20 volts was high"

Uh-oh! That may have blown the diodes in your rectifier. I suggest testing it out with a voltmeter.

Well i checked battery & r

Well i checked battery & rectifier both are good.Still running about 16 Volts most of the time then goes down to 14 & back up.Could it be my voltage regulator?
