I need a new regulator for my Velo Alternator on an AQ151, unfortunatly the auto elec firm who are looking at it are not able to get one so basically its a lump of metal !

What other options have I got available, eg would a car on work ?

Cheers

Stu

You need a marine rated alternator, don't even think of putting on one for a car. Having said that that they are very similiar, except the marine alternator has a screen on it.

Ask your alternator shop to find a single wire Delco alternator that matches up, they are cheap, readily available and work great. That is what I did, I am now running a single wire Delco. I had to do a mod to the pivot arm, but that was easy.

This has been discussed many times before, just do a search and you will find lots of info.

Have a great day

Rob.

Delco Remy 10si.
It is an Ignition Protected Delco Alternator that now meets Marine specs.
It can also be had in a one wire.
I've been using them for years!

I put a delco on and modified the bracket as well and had nothing but problems with it. I eventually replaced the bracket and put an original one on. you can get them on EbAy for $239-$289. search eBaY for:
New Marine Alternator for Volvo-Penta AQ151, 171, 251
