alpha1 260 stuck in gear

While docking today my alpha one was getting stuck in both forward and reverse and was having to hit the shifter hard to get it into neutral. But when it finally did go to neutral it would go into both gears no problem. when boat is turned off it moves freely into forward and reverse. I couldnt seem to find any info in this problem so figured i would see if anyone had any input. Thanks in advance.
 
If it is difficult to get out of gear then it is most likely the shift interupt switch. It is supposed to kill the motor for a split second to take pressure of the drive so it shifts out of gear easier.
 
Yes,

start engine in neutral, depress switch and engine should die. If it does not either the switch is bad or it may be a wiring issue.

two wires off the switch that should go to a small terminal block, Two additional wires attach to the terminal block on top of the switch wiires, Of those two, One goes to ground and the other goes to the - side of the coil.
