Alpha one won't trim back down .

I have a 1989 Alpha one connected to a 4.3 mercuiser thats stuck in the fully raised position . When I press the lower trim button I can hear one of the solonoids click (there's two) and it sounds like the trim motor is operating fine but the drive unit will not move down .Fluid level is ok , unit has the clear plastic fluid tank . Boat has not been used in two years .

Have someone stand/jump on the OD and ride it down as you operate the pump.

I've Tried someone standing on it and didn't help . I'm guessing that a valve could be stuck at the pump . There are two 7/8" bolts that oppose each other on the unit. Could loosening those free any thing up ?

unlikely, you might try reversing the lines at the pump to use the up pressure to try and lower the drive.will help to have someone jump downward on the drive
