alpha one tilt problems(submerged)

Hey guys new to posting but here goes. I've got a 2008 4.3 v6 mercruiser with alpha one gen II that has been submerged and I believe the trim pump and motor are damaged.I've replaced the solenoids and thefuses plus the starter. I'm gonna run tests on the motor and pump tomorrow and if they're damaged I have an older pump assembly from a 3.0 mercruiser with an alpha one drive that is good. I was wondering if they would interchange? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! The 08 calls for part number 14336A31 and if I'm not mistaken the 3.0 is part number 14336A20.
 
I am sure it will work, The A31 vs A20 is a rev change.

WHat the rev change is, is anyone's guess.

If you were to purchase a replacement for the A20 it would be superseded to the A31
 
I thought it would just wanted to make sure. Is it hard to clean the brushes and inside of motor? Or do you think the pump may be shot as well?
