Alpha One sterndrive will not come off!

I am trying to remove my alpha one. I get it to come about a half inch but it will not slide off. I have the shifter all the way in foward position. Does anybody have any tips or tricks to get this off? I dont want to pry on in and ruin anything.

When you pull it the 1/2 inch does it go back in when you let it go? What year is it?

I was told you have to have it fully in reverse gear to remove.

You have to be fully in forward, no if and or buts.
Hook back up the rams with the drive fully up and let the rams push it off... let some one else hit the button, be careful it will go quick so be ready to catch it.

Also check alignment, and grease the shaft good with spline grease, before re-installing.
