"I recently changed the impell

"I recently changed the impeller on my Alpha One outdrive. Seems to be staying around 160 degrees now with no problems. One question is should there be water coming out of the Prop area when I run it on the muffs, or just from underneath the outdrive."

"Im getting no water from Prop

"Im getting no water from Prop hub, Could something be blocking this? How would I check this and how critical is it?"

"It's not a problem at idl

"It's not a problem at idle unless your exhaust manifolds are to hot to touch. If they are then they may be plugged with crud and need serviced. Since your engine temp is constant, I don't think you have anything to worry over. Turn the throttle up to 1500 RPMs and it will spit and sputter out of the exhaust."

You didn't give any engine

You didn't give any engine specifics. Raw Water cooled (sea or lake); cold water comes from the T'stat to the exh. man. and mixes w/warm water from the T'stat to the riser and goes out the exhaust. Check your hoses. If no water gets through at all then the hot exhaust would melt the rubber exhaust hoses.

if there is no exhaust bellows

if there is no exhaust bellows (and there doesnt have to be) you will see no water out of the prop hub... i think

"Mark;
When you are running on the earmuffs you should get a strong steady stream of cooling water out each of the two transom housing outlets, lower left and right, just above the block that the braided power trim hoses fit into. It should be like a garden hose stream out each side. If so, you know you are getting enough water through everything.

"Ok, here is the info. 3.0l mercruiser with an Alpha one outdrive. It seems the temp is good but I am definitley not getting any water thru the prop hub, I will try again tonight and give it a little RMPs and feel the manifold once it gets to temp. Shouldnt be too hot right?? Any other things to try"

"mark;
Most of the cooling water will preferentially exit the two transom housing outlets, as I said above, because there is a separation channel within the exhaust downpipe that directs the water to the two ports.
Very little if any comes out the prop at low RPM's on a muff test.
BTW, you should not rev it over 1500 RPM on muffs.
If you send me your email addy to [email protected]
I will send you a picture of what it should look like.

I get a trickle from the prop

I get a trickle from the prop when on the muffs...lots from the down pipe. This is was told by a mechanic is normal.
