Hey guys, I’ve got an Alpha one GEN two on a 2006 Bryant 190 but the outdrive is actually a 2016 it was replaced according to the service records that came with the boat, the serial number on the drive, there are two different barcodes one is a 5121300TS, the other is not completely legible It looks like it’s either an NCL34867 or the first number may be M. i’ve already gotten both half’s of the drive pulled off the boat, I’ve replaced the water pump and water pump housing, and in the process of that I noticed that the upper driveshaft seal was torn and was leaking gear oil. The spring has fallen out of it. My understanding is that some of these had two seals back to back or there is one seal, mine appears that it can only be driven out from the bottom side up, I watched a video on a guy do it and it looks pretty straightforward as long as you have the spanner wrench to get the driveshaft off , I have a local Marine dealer that is willing to let me borrow the wrench and is going to sell me a set of seals tomorrow. Any other advice on this repair do I need to use RTV on this new seal when I drive it in does this year drive likely just have one seal? When I pulled the leg away from the upper half gear oil was running out all over the driveshaft, so I know that’s not right. also, the gimbal bearing and Bellows were replaced in 2016 and the boat is only had about 60 hours put on it since then, all of that looks to be in perfect condition. There was no water in the Bellows in the gimbal bearing is smooth, is there any way to grease this thing? I cannot find a grease fitting in i read that some of them are sealed. Also do i need to use rtv on the upper gasket when i reinstall upper drive to bellows.?
