Alpha One Gen 2 seal carrier replacement

I have a 98 SeaRay with 165 hours on it. We bought it just over a year ago and I have decided to do the annual maintenance so I got the impeller kit with new housing and all. I have never messed with something like this except on outboards which as it turns out, is completely different. I have figured most of it out, except the seal carrier. How do I get the old one out and how do I make sure the new one is in correctly? Youtube seems to have nothing on this and it also seems that a lot of these shops that do the water pump kits either don't order the kit with the seal carrier or just don't replace it. But since I'm already there I might as well. I did read that someone got the sierra kit and the seal carrier was different from the OEM one and it didnt seat right, which is why I ask how do I make sure the new one is in correctly? I posted about my 1973 evinrude quite a while ago and got a ton of help rebuilding it so I figured I could get some help with this too.

Thank you that helps a lot. I got home and went to take the seal carrier out and it doesnt seem to want to just pop out like the book says it should. There is some corrosion around it that seems to be holding it. I tried the 2 screwdrivers in the holes and it didnt want to pop out even with a good bit of pressure. I dont want to crack anything though. Are there any other tricks to getting this out? and when it is out can I just clean the surface where it sits and put the new one back in?

Quick update, I got the old one out. When I compare the old one and the new one the old one has 4 long taps on the bottom, the new one has 8 smaller tabs but they seems to still fit in the holes where the ones on the old seal was, my problem is that the old one sat pretty flush when it was in. Not the tube looking part on top but the circular part where the outside o-ring is was pretty flush with the base where the water pump plate goes, the new seal sits up about 1/8". Is this normal because its just a newer seal or did Sierra not think things through when they put this in the kit?

I just changed mine and the outer edge of the carrier was flush or a fraction below the edge of the recess it sits in. Maybe yours is not seated all the way. Push in by hand only. I'm new at this stuff too, so hopefully one of the experts will chime in. (Mine was oem carrier, maybe the Sierra is a little different)
