Upper carrier seal or o-ring

Did you replace the upper carrier and seal? If you did did you notice a deep grove on the yoke?

If there was a deep grove then remove the assembly, disassemble and change the position of the seal within the carrier. It usually requires about a 1/16 of an inch change in position.

I do this as it changes the position of the seal lip to the yoke where there is no grove.

If you need assistance we can take it off line.

i did replace the boring but not the seal.. I’ll have to take a closer look at the diagrams again. I wasn’t aware there was a seal in there to begin with. I thought it was just the boring that seals the upper carrier.

I can respond back with pictures, I’m sure that would help. REALLY appreciate your time. Can not thank you enough!

when you torqued the large castle nut, how tight did you make it?
You need the actual manual

i didn’t torque it to spec but it is plenty TIGHT. The tool I have has a square cut out for a 1/2” torque wrench to be used but it’s stripped so I just tightenwd it up with a BFH. I couldn’t imagine it being any tighter. Which number on there is the seal? I’m aware of the o-ring but not a seal..

you use those for knee pads

HAHAHAHA!!

I pulled the upper asembly, found the seal and replaced it. She’s holding pressure now! Thank you very much for your input. I truly appreciate all you guys and love this forum. I’d still be stuck on my first boat if it wasn’t for ALL of you!
