Alpha gen 2 shift cable adjustment

I installed a new lower shift cable today in my alpha gen 2. I put the out drive back and everything is together. Ive heard about the 6" center to center rule. This didnt work for mine. In Forward its right at 7 inches and in neutral its at 6 3/4" and it seems to go into gear fine. I havent been able to shift it while running yet since its suppose to get to freezing again tonight. I tried to get a 6" mark and it just wasnt working. Did i miss something during the adjustment?

ok got the shift cable adjusted. Had to thread out the ss shank that the brass barrel is threaded on to get 6 inches. The prop catches in neutral forward and reverse. hope to try it in the water tomorrow....

I am not sure you have all the parts and pieces set up correctly......It may work but may be incorrect.

You may not have had the outdrive in full FORWARD when setting up the cable end.........if you have issues let us know....

The proceedure works if all else is correct..done it thousands of times.........
