Alpha 1 oil leak

i have a 1994 rinker with a 5.7 mag and alpha 1. my delma is that when I fill the oil reseivor it all leaks out in about 5 days of setting... now the strange part is that I have pulled the overflow bottle, checks good. Oil hose to the firewall. Clean. NO LEAKS. My best guess it is getting back thru the gimbal? Any idea's what else I could be looking for? Remove the lower unit???

you have a leak that needs finding. start by removing the drive tp inspect6 the bellows for oil or water.
Then split the units to pressure test them

The Grease in the lower unit is good, no moisture. All of this grease is the bottom of the boat....

Your upper carrier seal in the upper half of the outdrive is bad and leaking.

When you trim the drive all the way up it leaks into the bellows and then into the boat thru the bellows.

DO NOT CONTINUE USING THE BOAT THIS WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will be replacing the upper unit and possible the entire outdrive if you do!!!!

When the upper gets repaired you must look very close at the bearing that is in the top cap. This is the most susceptible bearing for lack of gear lube and will come apart and cause catastrophic failure.


This is a common leak area and must be repaired before using the boat!
