Hi Guys,

Just got my first boat and am trying the understand how the drive trim/trailer switches work. On the engine control unit handle there are two black buttons, one raises the drive and the other lowers it and this is indicated on the trim gauge on the dashboard. Got that bit !! On the underside of the handle is a rocker switch. Pressing one side of it raises the drive still further and the trim gauge goes into the red area. However pressing the other side of the rocket switch does nothing and I have to press the down button on the handle to get the drive down again. Is this correct or is there something wrong?

Cheers

Tim

Need a picture of shift control or a link to a picture of it.
What year is your boat??????????????

Asking a general question with NO infornation is like buying a pair of shoes for someone you know nothing about especialy their foot size....omg....

Hi,

Thanks for the reply,

Its a 1988 Sunseeker with a Mercruiser 260 and Alpha 1 drive. The controls are Morse I believe.

Most people seem to think that early boats were wired up this way so mine is all functioning as intende.

Cheers

Tim

With out a specific picture it could be one of many styles....

A visual would allow for propper information.

Ayuh,..... Is this rocker switch within easy reach of yer thumb while yer hand is on the throttle,..??

'n are the other 2 buttons not in easy reach of yer thumb,..??

If so,.... I'm guessin' somebody at 1 time or another, switched the duties of the switches,...

The rocker switch, Should be for use within' the Trim range, before the trim limit switch shuts it off,...
Then usually, ya gotta go to a not so easy to reach switch to move the drive through the Tilt range,....

Otherwise, I misread yer description, 'n it's workin' exactly as it should be,...
