Guy you are the one gave me the idea to fix this unit.. same was a black unit metal resovoir
one solonoid/ 1976 model 888 ford V8 5.0.. I just went ahead and replaced the motor from ebay ebasic power a arco unit.. and put on a new solonoid.. well it went up and down a few time and then stuck in up position.. I put a new battery on but may have run it down.. but I don't think so.. what now ? what else could be wrong.. before unit would not even click.. motor run in both up and down and trailer positions..
I'm not sure what to do now.. the motor unit came with a shaft piece you had to attach with a coupler if you had a metal resevoir.. could that have come loose?

If the motor runs but there is no up/down then I would check that first. How is the fluid level? If it's low there may be air in the lines. Is the pump reservior vent screw open a 1/3 turn?. Charge the battery; the motor draws quite a few amps. New 10 ga. wires from the battery to the motor may help along w/shiny connections.

tell me the trick to putting on the coupler .. do you use a glue or something to hold it in place until you get on the unit.. I had a hell of a time getting it to stay while putting it on it was so loose (the coupler) I thought about using some silicone sealor and let it set up for a while .. don't know it thats a good idea was afraid a bit of it would get into the pump or screen

Degrease the motor shaft end and the coupler and use a drop of superglue; a drop not a glob. Is there a set screw on the coupler? Is it on upside down?

Or superglue it to the pump assy. and align the motor shaft to it and slip it in place.

Call eBasicpower up and ask them; may have sent you the wrong coupler.

"yes I got them to send me another just in case.. it was plastice (coupler) and did not have a set screw.. I have some JB weld think that might work as good, also it has a air vent hole beside the fill hole. I was a little puzzle about that and the orginal did not seem to have a vent hole??"

Do you have a small machine shop near you? Have them make a coupler for you from stainless steel.
