Hi all I a alfa 1 out drive I bought everything works fine except when I bring the
out drive up I take on water. When it is down no problem. I looked and saw the
exhaust bellows was in 2 pieces after a lot of cursing I got that fixed but It is
still taking on water when up. You can see it dribbling down the back wall.
Any one have a idea? thanks a bunch
 
tilt the boat as far up at the front of the trailer as possible.

make sure the plug is IN at the transom

use a garden hose and fill boat up with water from the inside being careful not to go too high and get the water level over the starter.

Watch to see where it comes out of...

could be the short shift cable bellows. The tapered bellows at ~ 3:00 looking at the transom.

could be the gasket and or O ring between drive and gimbal housing is bad or missing.......

only the u joint bellows and the shift cable bellows allow water into the boat.

Unless the transom seal is bad but it would leak all the time.

Yes its a bitch to replace for the inexperienced person. Regardless of how much time you have. It is difficult for a experienced person and on some boats requires the assistance of a second person......

Here is a pic showing the bellows. What it does NOT show is the cable and all its associated parts that require disassembly and reassembly or replacement
 
thank you I think I will save some money and take it to a boat shop. It's hard to find a good one in north central Wy. tks for your help
