How do you get the thrust washer back in a 3 horsepower weedless Evinrude outboard

Prop shaft thrust bearing in the gearcase?

Yes in the gear case

Haven't had one apart for many years, so I looked up in the book. It says install pinion and thrust block, aligning tabs with those in gearcase, then insert drive shaft. (My words, I've put the book away)
