Alarms and RPM's

I have a 2008 175 Optimax. Yesterday 2 alarms came on. One was on off 4 times. The next was constant and only when I got over 1000 rpm. The boat would not go. Like it had a governor killing the RPM's. Boat was left to me in a Will so I'm unfamiliar with the motor. Any help would be appreciated.

Check the oil tank level and fill as needed. Replace the impeller for the continuous alarm.

It's your oil tank on the engine. The 4 beeps is telling you the level is low and the constant beep when you push the throttle up is telling you that you are in safe mode.

If the oil tank is full and you are getting the 4 beeps and safe mode solid tone, you will need to replace the tank. It is not the senor. The float inside the tank becomes saturated with oil and sinks to the bottom setting off the alarm and sending you into safe mode.
