Ive got a merc 1989 black max

Ive got a merc 1989 black max 150.After starting
engine alarm gose on and stays on.I need some tips on checking oil and temp sensors.oil leval is ok water is peeing from engine.
ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.

"Have you run it out of oil recently? Is the small oil tank under the hood full also? You might just have a problem with the oil level sensor in the cap of the small oil tank on the engine. Try taking it off and flipping it up side down. If the alarm turns off, either the tank was low or the sensor is bad."
