Just tried my 18 ft. bow rider that has a 1998 Mercury 150 hp carb engine. Rode on the water for about 10 min. at 3000 rpms when the alarm starts sounding. I slowed down to an idle and after a couple of min. the alarm shut off. My temp. gauge doesn't work so I'm not sure it was a heat issue. I did the same runs 4 more times and everything was the same. The engine was peeing all the time during these runs. The engine didn't have its thermostats installed for this run.
I'm thinking it could be obstructions in the water passages in the block.
