"Well, he was probably talking about output torque, in ft/lbs. I cannot find a spec on the output torque at 5000 rpms, so I will not speculate.
OK...my personal opinion...no experience other than my own...
High 80s for compression is too low. I would be rebuilding it if it were mine. I would consider it worn out.
I have one running compressions right at 95 on all cyls, and to me it just seems worn out. Will not get above 5000 rpm at WOT and fully trimmed.
That bit about 90 psi from the factory is an out and out lie from Robert.
You remember I bought my 96 200 motor from him? Well he said and was very proud...used it as a selling point....that the comp was 110 on all cyls. I went down there to pick it up, and verified it in his shop...110 across the board.
Take it for sure...he lied to you about 90 psi being spec from the factory.
Grinding huh, are you shifting very slowly? You can't shift it slowly into gear. You gotta briskly push it from neutral into gear. Don't linger thru the shifting process. Should sorta "clunk" once."
