would like to get more air to

would like to get more air to motor. its an outboard 150. the cover has vents but are almost totally closed.(only like a 1/4 inch gap) there are 2 plates screwed in place. that cover the vents. will it hurt to make the plates smaller or remove them completey. What about water? i know a little probably wont hurt. It just seems that more air would get a couple more horse for me.

"Don't mess with the air-intake box.
These carbs does not have acc pumps, and needs the vacuum created in the silencer box to get the main jets started.
Take away the air-box -and Your engine will loose out completely during acceleration."

For the engines without air-intake box, it might be a different story.
As for the upper cowling he might as well remove it completely and use it as a dinghy."
 
guys i was talking aboout the

guys i was talking aboout the main cover over the whole motor. I wouldnt dare touch the silencer.(the main carb. cover.) the wife would through me in drink if the boat sounded like a derby car and didn't go anywhere. Anyway i can remove the plates and be fine. thanks apprciate it.
