I have a nissan 40hp direct injection outboard motor NSD40B, the air compressor is locked up and a broke belt
I have searched everywhere for a new or used compressor preferably new, part number 3T5B10000-3 /NISSAN OEM SUPERSEDED BY 3T5B100006 AIR COMPRESSOR ASSY | 3T5B100002
I found a new compressor for a 90hp Nissan 90 HP 2 Stroke TLDI Air Compressor Assembly 3T9B100000 Fits 2002-2010 looks identical to mine the only difference in the part number is the 5 and 9 was wondering if anyone knows if this will work or if anyone has had any experience with this compressor issue? Thanks

Yes, it should work fine. If you blew a regulator and got fuel in the air line and compressor, that could make the piston seize.

Thanks for the reply, l’m going to order the compressor for the 90hp. Those things are like gold if you can find one! I really like the motor and it seems like a strong power plant, just don’t make sense why no one isn’t making the parts anymore? I’ll post my results when I get and install it. Do you have any advice as to look for any reason my first compressor locked up? Or other parts that might need to be replaced other than the belt and filter?

Can you explain the procedure for checking fuel and air regulators? Where are they located? I could smell gas strong in the old compressor when I took it apart, especially around the reed plate and top of the compressor pump piston. That makes me expect that there’s a gas issue entering at the top of the pump piston? As far as I can tell oil at the top of the compressor behind the piston is fine, and water is circulating around the piston cylinder because the water exits to the pee hole and the motor is peeing good. So essentially the cylinder has to be getting washed out with gas causing it to seize up?

Check your Factory service manual. You need special pressure gauges (expensive), or a visit to a TLDI tech. The regulators are on the air and fuel rail. If gas got into the compressor, that likely washed it down and it seized.
