AGM +> $300 Lithium +> $700-to-$1,200 (no brainer if I had the money).Absolutely positive.
Lithium battery also should you chose to do so. Many are.
I am curious to just what an "AGM Charger Profile" is... Is it a setting on the new battery chargers or something on the Yamaha F200XP outboard? Might you know what the charging system is on the Yamaha? Is it like an alternator on a car?No problem with AGM, and note there are regular AGM's (Durcell, Everstart, interstate, bass pro, etc) and true AGM's (Odyssey, Trojan, Lifeline, etc)
The regular AGM's are better than lead acid and can be charged with a lead acid battery charger profile. True are even better than regular type AGM's and should be charged with AGM charger profile
You can buy external regulators that will provide whatever charging profile you want....its usually not an economical path but it is doable in many cases...Charging profiles mostly come into play only when using a supplemental battery charger.
Most alternators, and certainly the Yamaha F200XB alternator, not does have any specialized charging profile. It is a constant voltage output device. Regulator maintains voltage while the current output varies depending upon the battery state of charge and other variables.
Thank you so very much Boscoe! I believe this is what I have been looking for. Can you tell me the source (Yamaha manual?) you got this?
Boscoe, YOU ARE THE MAN! This is exactly what I have spent days looking for. Many thanks! The September 2013 edition of the Yamaha On Board magazine.
