"just aqquired a 17 ft chappre
"just aqquired a 17 ft chapprel 178xl with a 1986 110 vro. the boat is really nice and i got it for nothing, so i took it. well, it was in the water when i got it, and i had planned on pulling it out so i could do some routine maintanance. Because i know the previous owner neglegted it pretty badly. Well, i didnt really know how much until i started tearing into it. i got the lower unit off (took lots of penetrating oil and lots of heat, still going to have to drill out 2 bolts).... anyways, got the water pump housing off, ok but now i cannot get the impeller to move, and i mean AT ALL. I gotta tell you, i have done lots of these things before, and never in my life have i saw anything this bad. it is frozen on there. usually after playing with them a little bit i can get them off. Not this one, it just WILL NOT pop off. Im getting really frusterated because its the only thing stopping me from putting everything back together. i sprayed it with pb, tried everything i could think of. I thought of cutting it off, but i dont have a cutting wheel right here and i wanna find out of thats safe to do first. now i know what happens when a motor is neglegted this badly, it looked like the original friggen pump. i know its probably not, but the impeller was so worn, not broken, but worn down to almost nothing. no womder it wasnt pumping water. just irritated. t stats are out, new ones are ready to go in, but i want to get over this hurdle first, so anyone got ideas ?"
