hi, im having the same problem again, after replacing throotle cable and box i was able to get boat on plane like it did before but it took a little time to get on plane. now after 1/2 hour it wont plane, this 90 hp 2 cycle tohatsu is driving me nuts, fuel is clean, dont know what it could be,when it planes it runs great, could this be motor getting weak or what, battery is good, called a tohatsu dealer and he said i dont need 1000 cc battery for 97 motor.

Right. The 1000 amp battery is only required for TLDI starting. Time to review the entire rig -- prop pitch, jack height, weight distribution, and of course do a full confirmation of the motor tuning parameters (including link and sync).

hi, whats link and sync mean, thanks for your response.

If you are not familiar with Link and Sync terminology, you will want to get up to speed with setting up your motor's tune-up. I would definitely recommend you get some local assistance -- possibly a visit to your dealer. Having a Factory service manual (available from any dealer including me) is a very good idea.

Basically, each motor needs to have all the rods and stops adjusted so that carbs are synchronized to each other, and the ignition advance must also be synchronized. On a 90A, that is done by measuring the rod and stop positions. Not difficult, but the settings are critical.

In addition, verifying all components of the fuel system (carb cleanliness and adjustments); Ignition items (correct plugs at proper gap, in good condition), plug wires clean and tight; Proper prop in good condition, etc.

Then there is the rig on the boat. Is the weight distribution optimized? Is the motor trim and jack height the best it can be?

can you belive it was the bielge pump not working right that left to much water in beilge, now that its fixed the boat is really frisky, and flies like i couldnt believe, it planes at 2800 rpms.:):):):)
