Recently took apart each carb and replaced gaskets with new kits. Re-installed the carbs and started the engine. Fired right up, but immediately running at high rpm + 2000. Let it run for 30sec and RPM increased to +3000, the engine was definitely racing, meanwhile throttle control was in neutral. Could not get it to idle down. Any suggestions? Pretty sure my carb rebuild is to blame but not sure where to check first.

Thanks"

i just purchased a 96 150 ocea

i just purchased a 96 150 ocean pro that did the same thing. i found that even though the throttle was in neutral the timing advance was sticking foward so therefore it was idling really high. just a thought

be sure all carbs are in synch

be sure all carbs are in synch with butterflies evenly closed. Racing idle is usually an indication of an air leak and one or more cylinders is running lean. YIKES!!!!!

If this engine has the plastic

If this engine has the plastic carbs ? if yes maybe you mixed up the jets ? Double check the jets ..

"The mechanical linkages betwe

"The mechanical linkages between carburetors. Check to make sure that they are exact. If not, one butterfly may be slightly open with all others closed..... the result = high rpm."
